Woman in Blue by Jean Baptiste Camille Corot

Woman in Blue by Jean Baptiste Camille Corot

The opera gown has been purchased! Just this past weekend after copious research on the internet, I concluded I simply had not the time to commission a new dress, and thus bought an ensemble at a store in town. The gown meets all my preset requirements save for one; the hue. I so wanted to wear a pastel number, but the modest dress styles I favored did not allow for that option. I do not want to give too much away as I always love a good theatrical reveal . . . I shall say this, the gown is blue; a soft shade of sapphire, if there is such a thing. Given that blue is my favorite color and the wonders it does for my visage, I bought it on the spot. It is is floor length chiffon with thick straps a partial v-neck and a bit of an Edwardian flair.

I immediately informed Mlle A, my cousin and resident “fashionista” of my selection. She approved. The hairstyle has also been decided on. It is execution shall be modern but the concept is 19th century inspired sans the long ringlets. Opera gloves and shoes are acquired. Mlle A devised the make-up scheme. All that is left to finish off the look is a few pieces of jewelry and my handsome gentleman at my gloved arm. I am so excited!!!
